Biogas to Biomethane

Biogas generated from anaerobic digestion contains various gases, with methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) being the major components. The specific composition can vary depending on the feedstock, the digestion process, and other factors.

After biogas is produced, it can undergo a gas separation or upgrading process to enhance its quality and utility.

Membrane Separation

  • This technique uses polymeric membranes to separate the CO2 from the methane in biogas while under high pressure. Membranes are produced in long, thin fibers with a hollow center core. Typical fibers are about 0.5 to 1 mm diameter.
